"Don Quijote, reading novels of chivalry" Engraving by Gustavo Doré

Entry 2
T.S. Eliot
Preface to Transit of Venus: Poems by Harry Crosby
Entry 3
C.S. Lewis, Perelandra
Entry 4
"Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore".
from The Raven, by E. A. Poe
This is just a taste of a great poem that everyone should read again.
I am confused by entry 1. It isn't comparable to the quotes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jess. Otherwise I like 2 and 3. I was never much for Poe, and crows are scary smart - haven't you seen that TED talk?
ReplyDeleteI s'pose we're not supposed to say what we voted for, but I memorized "The Raven" in middle school, so...YAY!! Wish I could still remember it all...
ReplyDeleteBy not comparable, do you mean it's a visual image rather than a quote? If so, very astute observation;) Good job! I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteOr if by "not comparable" you mean it does not fit a perceived, coincidental theme you see in the other submissions, sure.
However, if by "not comparable" you mean it is not of equal quality or does not possess the potential to stimulate thought, reflection or at least a smile...well, that's another story.
But of course, this is audience driven, so perhaps you will see the submitters test the waters and gauge the response.
